Every Artist wants to have those extra jobs for commission work, however when it takes YOU away from what YOU wanted to be working on, it can be a struggle to leave one for another. A balance of your creative time.
(PS….I have had a few moments to add to the “Rock Walk” sculpture . I also started Mesquite tree seeds, to be able to add them someday in the fall to my “growing peace” sculpture).
Hope everyone also had a creative, inspiring, productive weekend!
Look OUT!!! Never know where one may be hiding out. The Nevada desert has a variety of different snakes, some are poisonous. The rattle snake seldom makes an appearance, however the California King Snake cruises by my place every once in a while.
Beautifully colored, shining in the desert sun, on the run to find his next meal!

Since purchasing our property several months ago, my obsession and LOVE of Rocks magnified immensely again with the freedom of being able to do what I wanted with them. I have always had a curious interest in rocks since I was a young child growing up in rural PA. Moving to Las Vegas put a slight curve in the Earth Work passions. A freedom one does not have as a renter in the city.
Look out country life! I have arrived! I know my neighbors are driving by with quite the curious looks as I spend hours in the mornings and afternoons finding, moving and placing the rocks in a line that follows the contour of our Mesa. I am no where close to finished, I do not know if I ever will be. Adding plants, flowers and trees to existing desert landscape, hoping to enhance our infinity views of this AMZING place!
Today, I wanted to share with YOU the journey, as I reached a “Turning Point” in the growing Earth Work in Moapa Valley of Nevada! I will continue to blog randomly about the progress as it grows and changes.
Just kidding! Its actually a flower called Scorpion Weed that grows wild in the Nevada desert in the spring. The flowers don’t last long, but add a splash of purple color on the brown desert floor. Trying to post the photographs that inspire the work. Today I present : “Scorpion Weed”. (There are more of the “Twisted Doodles” on my website or Facebook page~ Art Work by Diann Meynor).
As a working artist, inspiration happens all the time. I try to capture the images through Photography that I would like create into a piece of artwork. I have been trying with my blog to post the photo that inspired the creation. Today I bring you “Warm Springs” NV. An oasis of water, trees, grass and wildlife out here in the the extremes of the Moapa Valley.
